I've seen them called scarflets or neck warmers. They are super cute, yes! I made a couple in this style http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9579273 for friends for Christmas, but with 2 felted thorns as fasteners... I did not come up with the idea myself but I can't find the original designer's name now. Poo. Alas, I have no photos of the finished pieces. I should bug my friends for piccies. They came out very nice, and were fast to crochet.
