It's about creation, and copyright. If that doesn't apply to crafting, then I guess crafting isn't an art, but I think of it as such. And this thing has been discussed on pretty much every other arts-related community I was on. I figured it was only a matter of time until somebody brought it up here.

There was an Orphan Works bill. Said Orphan Works bill did NOT legalize art theft. Said Orphan Works bill was NOT pushed by freaking Bill Gates (good grief!) Said Orphan Works bill DIED and was not passed. It's over. It's done. We don't need to bother our congressman, or sign a petition, or whatever other action the people running around like Chicken Little and screaming about the sky falling on artists everywhere are advocating. THERE IS NO ORPHAN WORKS BILL RIGHT NOW. There was, it's dead, and can we PLEASE MOVE ON ALREADY? Sorry if I sound grouchy, but I'm really sick of hearing about this, and I want to head it off anywhere it hasn't yet spread before people get all worked up over nothing.
