I have been trying to make a chandelier out of twigs...more of a lampshade with the twigs/ tree roots hanging down.My plan was to stick some glittery berries on . I am having real problems with attatching the twigs to a wire circle as they keep moving around! any hints? If anyone can give me a link or a photo of something simillar I would be greatful!

Re: twig chandelier
Wed, January 7, 2009 - 12:06 PMHave you tried fishing line? My mom used to sculpt with honey-locus thorns (pointy, nasty, mean twigs with lots of branches), and she used fishing line and hot glue to hold everything together. I remember her taking lots of wraps with the fishing line, sort of weaving it through the thorns. to make flat forms with the main axes. Think of a raft made of logs. Twigs should be easier. -

Re: twig chandelier
Wed, January 7, 2009 - 9:35 PMmy favortie way is to wet my wood, roots in kiddies pool, then shape them wet. be it nest form or hose shape while wet they will shape well.. then I pat them dry with old towels and put in van to dry. as here in Washington we don't have many dry days, that or near the vent for the dryer... same works ... when wet you can also peel bark and use it to attatch twigs together. -
