aarrggghhh!!!

suddenly, the machine is skipping stitches! it's an old old singer, industrial one, and was going along fine when it started creaking in the bobbin case and skipping a few stitches. i then oiled it a tiny bit and the noise stopped, but now it skips more stitches than it makes....

any thoughts?

possibly the bobbin area needs to be cleaned?
my started acting funny, and i popped out everything i could and took one of those compressed air canisters to it.
    works just fine now.

    good luck :)

Make sure the bobbin screw isn't too loose or too tight as well.

Check your needle & thread (I would re-thread the machine) as sometimes that leads to skipped stitches if the tension isn't right or the needle is dull.

drayamonster, you're a genius. i took the thing apart and cleaned cleaned cleaned, put it back together and used it in a so-so condition for a spell, then took it apart again and cleaned it all again. now it's like new.

thank you both for your advice!!
