The following are state laws regarding what merchants can and cannot ask for when you pay by check or credit card. If your state is not listed, then to the best of our knowledge it does not have applicable laws. The laws were researched July 2003.

Seems I missed the signup time to be in The Renegade Craft Fair. It bills itself as one of the nation's largest events for handmade arts, makes its Los Angeles premiere. Show features more than 300 crafters. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 11 and 12. Penthouse of the California Market Center, 110 E. 9th St., Los Angeles. Free. www.renegadecraft.com/.

Craft Riot

The City of West Hollywood will be hosting its first "Craft Riot". This is a perfect opportunity to do all your holiday shopping and help support some unique local businesses. Items sold are handmade by the artists and include beautiful jewelry, stationery, household items, and various other offerings. The day will include raffles, food, children's craft area and entertainment. Cost is $2 per person and will benefit the City of West Hollywood Toy Drive. the 7th annual Carlsbad ArtSplash 2009 - an exciting chalk art festival that is “A Community Celebration for Arts Education!” ArtSplash's goal is to raise money for arts & music in North County schools. ArtSplash will be held on September 26th and 27th, 2009, from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM Saturday and 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Sunday on Armada Drive above The Flower Fields®. Chalk artists will be on hand to design original works of art along Armada Drive, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Because ArtSplash strives to enhance art appreciation, we would like to invite you to exhibit and sell your original paintings, visual arts, sculpture, photography and mixed media during this unique two-day event. It is our vision that ArtSplash will be a family-oriented, fine arts experience. We hope that ArtSplash artists not only display and sell their art but also can demonstrate the creation of that art on-site.
Exhibit Fee & Booth Details
Booth spaces are 10' x 10'. The exhibit fee for the weekend is $250.00. Payment must be received in full with application by August 1st, 2009. After the cut-off date, a $50.00 fee will be charged for late entries. You will be responsible for supplying your own exhibit set up (a 10'x10' white booth). All artists will be responsible for delivery, handling, set up and removal of their displays and materials. Each approved vendor will receive two vendor passes. These passes will be sent upon your acceptance. NO FEES WILL BE REFUNDED AFTER APPROVAL OF APPLICATION.
Application
Please send a slide or photo of your ORIGINAL art and your booth with your Application and your Exhibit Fee(s) to ArtSplash. For your protection, please submit slides in a plastic sleeve. All photographs and slides will be returned to you. You must also include your California Seller's Permit Number, issued by the California State Board of Equalization, or your application cannot be accepted.
The Application, Exhibit Fee(s) and slides and/or photographs of your work must be received by no later that August 1, 2009. Please make your check or money order payable to "ArtSplash" and mail to c/o Comstock & Associates, 2755 Jefferson St. #102, Carlsbad, CA 92008, Your confirmation will be mailed to you upon approval of your application packet.
