My mom owns an assisted living for mentally ill patients. She wants to do more craft projects with them, but is having a hard time coming up with fresh ideas.
Anyway, do any of you have links to good craft sites where there are craft ideas... think simple, inexpensive, etc. Actual craft ideas are welcome, too. Thanks!!

Re: Craft Idea websites
Mon, May 15, 2006 - 6:45 PMHaving worked with this population, I know there is a wide range of mentall illnessness
so Just wondering what can they do... without getting to personal... One lady I worked with who couldn't do very much would choose colors by pointing and she created a wonderful weaving with my fingers. She was very proud.

There's a lot of stuff on there that's a little more involved than even *I* want to get into, so inpatient folks will probably have a difficult time with them, but there are literally *thousands* of ideas so you should defenitely be able to find something on the forums!
Also, be sure to check out the "Recycled Ideas" section. It's specifically for reconstruction crafting and making things on the cheap!
Good luck and happy crafting!

Re: Craft Idea websites
Wed, May 17, 2006 - 7:05 AMFirst, your mother is a saint.
Secong, you should talk to Fang, I know that she has done some work with the elderly and crafts and probably has some really good resources and ideas.
Also, it is spring time and most people like to work with plants, what about painting inexpensive terra cotta pots and making small planters from them? -

Re: Craft Idea websites
Fri, March 20, 2009 - 10:36 AMI don't know if you are still looking for craft sites or not - being that the post is a few years old - but for anyone interested Family Fun magazine has some great simple crafts and most of the crafts in the magazine are listed on their website as well. Another site that has some simple ideas is www.craftbits.com/.
