I'm a knitter, so I'm making a few things with yarn and sticks:
    - purse for colleague (done)
    - purse for another colleague (done)
    - socks for another colleague (done a while ago)
    - scarf for my boss (2/3 done, my first venture into entrelac)
    - sweater for Nephew A (not even started)
    - sweater for Nephew B (ditto)

The Nephews are 2 and 4, so the sweaters shouldn't take *that* long to make.

i'm making wire woven necklaces for my brother and his fiance, bobbin lace bookmarks for my mom, sister and brother in law and I'm getting a grilling spice set for my husband and making him a new apron. We're trying to buy a house so hopefully I'll be making us new curtains, rugs, all sorts of new house things soon.

I am going to be making some of the eye pillows/cold hot packs that were talked about here in an earlier thread, some hat/scarf sets, ornaments, perhaps a few clocks (I bought the "clock" parts a while ago and need to figure out the face of the clocks now) and some bath "tea bags".
Easy stuff with a homey feel that doesn't break the bank.
I want to hit Denmark and Iceland this coming summer so not breaking the bank it a huge factor for me.

I've found (the last 2 years) that the best gift for my neices (I have 6) is to bring lots of beading supplies and take over Mother's dining room table Christmas night. They get to make whatever they like. Necklaces are popular with the younger set, and earrings with the older teens (I'm told that it's because of the instant gratification). We all have a great time!

I am making medicine pendants for all loved ones, with hand-selected semiprecious gems for each one, and silver wire wrap.

I am so excited! All the supplies came in the mail today!

looks like the crochet hooks are coming out....

Wow what a list of crafty items. No wonder we are the Crafty Vixens!

I'm working on walker-wheelchair totes for Veterans. Stockings for our military soldiers overseas, hats for local kids, and then my Christmas to-do-list.

Dishcloths for friends and family, tote bag for sister n law, purse for neighbor and too much else to list. You get the idea -- crochet until I drop!

Cathy find a glass shop near you and sign up for classes. We didn't have one near me when I wanted to learn so jumped in feet first and started buying beginner books with patterns and tools then my friend showed me how to cut a piece of glass and I was hooked. Took lots of practice and putting together some not so good pieces but I got the hang of it and it is my favorite thing to do!!!

So, I got this great idea at an art gallery . . .
you can buy the candles that have the Virgin Mary/Saints, but there are some that are colored but with illustrations. Then, go through old copies of We'Moon (or anything else) and cut out beautiful pictures. Glue them to the candles and border them with glitter glue. Then get nice ribbon, two kinds if you want, and create a border around the top and bottom. I know it may be kind of hard to imagine, but believe me, they come out beautifully. My mom is protestant, so I'd look for something that means something to her. For my pagan/wiccan friends, I can find pictures of their patron deities. Get creative--create your own pictures, poems, etc for a personalized touch.

I meant to say colored WITHOUT illustrations . . . so you have a blank canvas to work on

Wasn't the idea of gluing flammable objects to candles discussed, and discouraged?

Maybe decorate a safe glass container, or make a lantern with that sort of theme instead of putting paper directly on a candle.

I think these candles she is talking about are in glass, yes?

          that's ok, right?

I'm making affirmation dolls, which are the opposite of worry dolls. I make them out of mini clothes pins, use thread wrapping for clothes and thread for hair. A set of four in a little gauzy bag with a note explaining that these dolls are for telling your boldest and brightest visions of the future--that is, don't tell them your fears, but instead imagine the best possible outcome, envision the world as you want it to be, and tell the dolls your vision. I'm giving these to lots of girlfriends, big and small (I mean young and old), this year. Also making tree ornaments and toys out of felt.

            plain santaria candles
            they cost like a buck!
they are tall and in glass
I made a St. Elvis for my sister one year

I actually have a few and was going to make bellydancer santaria candles
I think thats an idea to revisit!

Kimberley here. I'm making inspiration boxes. I get an old tin( ten to twenty five cents at my local thrift store) that i paint and then i start looking around my world for inspiration for that person, based on who they are. I write notes to put in the box that the person can match with an object, kinda like a fun little game. like a shell might have a tiny note that says" it takes a long time for water to leave its impression on a shell, who has made their impression on you?" or a pair of dice that say luck, skill or fate? i also throw in tiny statues that i make from sculpey. I love that stuff! it has been really fun, so far!

I think I'm going to go to the bead shop and just string a cool bead/ trinket to some silk ribbon for necklaces for all my girlfriends. Last year I went out of my way for gifts and got very little thanks, so I'm not doing that again but I always like to give something. I figure less than $5 on each. I'm going to make little draw string bags for them too.

I've seen some cute trees made of feathers that I may try.
    Also seen square wreaths... interesting!

I am going to make magnets!
You can purchase magnet paper, like t-shirt transfer paper, gloss paper, sticker paper... for ink jet printers.
Not sure if they will work on a laser printer.

I have been photographing a lot this year and have a lot of grand images... roses in bloom - California, ou la tre' Paris, orchids, city buildings Chicago... gonna blow some of those images up and make magnets of other ones.

I always make my Christmas cards too, images, PhotoShop, glitter, collage, nice card stock, drawings, bonus fancy, and poignant writing.

Okay, what is it with the soap and other personal care products? A lot of people make and give them and more buy and give. Personally, they are not on my wish list. I guess they fulfill my mother's requirement that they self destruct, but I have my self care routine, and don't really want to add to it.

Okay, I've had some time to think about, and I'd like to apologize if I was too harsh and hurt someone's feelings. Also, I figured out why it's an issue for me. I have some sensitivity to scent, and don't like the idea of someone else chosing my personal care products because I don't want to end up with something that's going to set me off. I hate getting gifts that won't work for me. It just makes me feel bad on a number of levels.

The personalized hand made gifts are made for a specific person in mind.
My Aunt loves Lavender, so she gets, exfoliating scrub and sented bath salts to match with a lovely set of towels.
My cousin is sent sensitive, she gets a set of towels and a hot water bottle with a monagramed cover
My girlfriend has four very energenic boys, they are each getting a bath towel and washcloth with their names on them.
Gifts are made for people we care about
So they are made to be appropriate to the people we give them to.

Needle felted gingerbread man doll for one nephew. I'm taking their gifts at Thanksgiving to save on shipping so he's also getting one of my little decorated boxes... Santa Clause, of course! I ran out of old wrapping paper.

Dad will get a shrine to "Uncle Ansel" (Adams) to assist him in his photography.

I'm bored of my fabric stash, so I hope to sew stuff for local friends. (Then I can buy more!!!) I don't know what I'll make.

My best buddy and her husband are moving into a new home. I'm making her a (kit) sewing kit and putting in a gift certificate for setting up her new craft room. Her hubby and I are conspiring to keep it all, mostly, in one part of the house. That's my gift to him.

I successfully made my first clothing item - a pair of PJ pants for my mother in law. She loves them! :D I also stitched cute little stuffed animal heads to the backs of mittens for my nieces using patterns from this book: www.amazon.com/Cute-Book-...pd_bbs_sr_1 It was super easy, quick, and they loved them. And felt is soooo cheap - I still have plenty to make lots and lots more cute little characters.
