Sergers & overlocks

Any one have a good recomendations for a low to mid range priced serger? I work mostly with faux fur. And would prefer one that had a adjustable height presser foot like a Singer I saw recenty.

I have liked these ones from what I read online:

Pfaff hobbylock 4842
White superlock w2500
Singer 14sh6540

I just bought my first Serger, the brand is Baby Lock. farm3.static.flickr.com/2365/2...278.jpg It's on the far left. I haven't done anything but several test runs (to play with tension settings) and it runs like a dream! It's incredibly fast, but I can also slow it down easily with less pressure - it's very smooth. I got it on Craig's List and the woman I got it form also gave me a box of fabric, the manual and a ton of thread. I made sure it worked before I left her house. It cost $150. I buy all my furniture on CL and decided to look for machines/sergers as well and I think I got a good deal.

my baby lock looks identical to yours. And I really like mine. I bought it new about 15? yrs ago (might be off a little on that), and have run it hard. It's only had two problems, both were my fault. It's been a great "work horse" for me.
I think you're going to like it.

Thanks, Fancy! It's really encouraging to hear someone with a great experience with the machine. I can't wait to use it on my first project, drapes for our house. :D

I have a brother brand 4 thread serger.
I use it about 40 hours a week, and it rocks my socks!

Next time I buy a serger, I'm getting one that has 5 threads so that I can do MORE MORE MORE with it!!!

I have a Huskylock 936. It wasn't cheap, but its the last one I'll ever need so I figure I'm saving money not having to upgrade in a couple of years. I mostly wanted it for the cover hem stitch. Whichever one you choose, get familiar with your owner's manual. My machine has to be cleaned and oiled regularly in order to run properly.
